Welcome To Unique Day Nursery

At Unique Day Nursery, we recognise that every child is unique and as such, they learn, progress and develop at a pace and in ways individual to them.

We facilitate the various ways that children learn, through an approach that is a blend of Reggio Emilio and Montessori philosophies and early years theories.

Our daily provision caters to the differing needs of all of our children, through the activities that we offer and the safe, secure environment that we create.

At Unique Day Nursery, we are committed to supporting your child to develop holistically, to ensure that they develop, thrive and reach their full potential.

Our Mission

At Unique Day Nursery, we believe that childhood is a time for wonder, exploration and discovery.

Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing and inspiring environment, where every child can learn through play, build confidence and develop a lifelong love of learning.

We are committed to supporting each child as a unique individual - encouraging their curiosity, creativity, independence and resilience, through meaningful play experiences that spark imagination and deepen understanding of the world around them.

Our Values

Learning Through Play:

We recognise play as the foundation of early learning. Through hands-on experiences, exploration and child-led discovery, we support children in developing communication skills, problem-solving abilities, social confidence and emotional understanding.

Nurturing Relationships:

Strong, trusting relationships are at the heart of everything we do. We create a warm and caring environment where children feel safe, valued and respected.

Respect and Inclusion:

We celebrate diversity and promote kindness, empathy and respect for others. Every child and family is welcomed, valued and supported.

Individual Growth:

Each child develops at their own pace. We observe carefully, listen closely and tailor learning opportunities to meet  individual interests and developmental needs.

Partnership with Families:

We believe parents and carers are a child's first educators. By working in partnership with families, we ensure continuity of care and create the best possible foundation for each child's future.

Our Staff

All staff employed at Unique Day Nursery have completed a DBS check to ensure that they have been recruited safely, which is a key element of the safeguarding process. Staff have also completed an accredited Paediatric First Aid course, to ensure that they are confident to       administer the appropriate first aid when necessary.

Nursery Nurses and Nursery Assistants have attained an NVQ Level 2 qualification (or equivalent), or a higher qualification, as well as experience of working with young children, in order for them to offer optimal support for all of the children within the setting.

The Nursery Kitchen Assistant has attained appropriate Kitchen/ Catering qualifications and kitchen experience, in order for high standards of cleanliness and organisation to be established and maintained, when  preparing healthy meals and snacks as planned.

Our Aims

At Unique Day Nursery, we aim to:

  • Place your child at the centre of their learning experiences.
  • Work in partnership with children, parents and carers.
  • Provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment.
  • Promote diversity and inclusivity through a range of resources, activities and experiences.
  • Deliver a curriculum based on the EYFS curriculum and the guidance of 'Development Matters'.

Staff Training

All staff initially complete a staff induction programme. As part of our commitment to staff professional development, we offer ongoing training in order for all members of the team, to remain up to date with all aspects of the Early Years framework.

This is inclusive of knowledge and understanding of healthy eating, safeguarding, sleep guidance and child protection.

Our training package also includes health and safety and first aid.

Working In Partnership With Parents

We recognise the importance of working in partnership with parents.

Once you have registered your child, we will create a secure online 'Ovivio' journal account for your family. Daily observations will be accessible through these accounts in order for you to be made aware of development, progress, milestones achieved and the general day-to-day care of your child.

Parents will also be kept up-to-date with learning, experiences and events, through e-newsletters.
