Welcome To Unique Day Nursery

At Unique Day Nursery, we recognise that every child is unique and as such, they learn, progress and develop at a pace and in ways individual to them.

We facilitate the various ways that children learn, through an approach that is a blend of Reggio Emilio and Montessori philosophies and early years theories.

Our daily provision caters to the differing needs of all of our children, through the activities that we offer and the safe, secure environment that we create.

At Unique Day Nursery, we are committed to supporting your child to develop holistically, to ensure that they develop, thrive and reach their full potential.

The Owner/Manager

My name is Nicole Salmon and I have worked within education for over 20 years. I am a qualified teacher and my roles have included classroom teacher (Reception, KS1 and KS2), Assistant Headteacher, Early Years Lead and Phonics Lead.

I am passionate about Early Years and the development of children within their formative years. I am aware of the importance of quality early years experiences, and how they create the foundation of children’s progress with regards to their educational future. As such, Unique Day Nursery aims to ensure that every child has daily access to opportunities and experiences that will help to mould them holistically.

My qualifications include:

  • BA (Hons) Education Studies
  • PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education)
  • NPQSL (National Professional Qualification in Senior Leadership)
  • CACHE Level 3 SENCO

Our Staff

All staff employed at Unique Day Nursery have completed a DBS check to ensure that they have been recruited safely, which is a key element of the safeguarding process. Staff have also completed an accredited Paediatric First Aid course, to ensure that they are confident to             administer the appropriate first aid when necessary.

Nursery Nurses and Nursery Assistants have attained an NVQ Level 2 qualification (or equivalent), or a higher qualification, as well as experience of working with young children, in order for them to offer optimal support for all of the children within the setting.

The Nursery Kitchen Assistant has attained appropriate Kitchen/ Catering qualifications and kitchen experience, in order for high standards of cleanliness and organisation to be established and maintained, when  preparing healthy meals and snacks as planned.

Our Aims

At Unique Day Nursery, we aim to:

  • Place your child at the centre of their learning experiences.
  • Work in partnership with children, parents and carers.
  • Provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment.
  • Promote diversity and inclusivity through a range of resources, activities and experiences.
  • Deliver a curriculum based on the EYFS curriculum and the guidance of 'Development Matters'.

Staff Training

All staff initially complete a staff induction programme. As part of our commitment to staff professional development, we offer ongoing training in order for all members of the team, to remain up to date with all aspects of the Early Years framework, inclusive of knowledge and understanding of healthy eating, safeguarding and child protection.

Our training package also includes health and safety and first aid.

Working In Partnership With Parents

We recognise the importance of working in partnership with parents.

Once you have registered your child, we will create a secure online 'Tapestry' journal account for your family. Daily observations will be accessible through these accounts in order for you to be made aware of development, progress, milestones achieved and the general         day-to-day care of your child. As a parent, you will also be able to securely add comments and photos of your child, which can be used to evidence development and     progress that occurs at home.

Parents will also be kept up-to-date with learning, experiences and events, through e-newsletters.
